On Photo Foraging
I finally found a name for my favorite past time.

As you may remember from last summer, one of my favorite activities is to wander around my neighborhood, in and out of alleys, searching for spaces where light and shadows make regular things look magical. Since it feels like spring came early this year, I started on my photo walks earlier too.
I’ve been very into the Ologies podcast lately, and I recently listened to the episode with forager Alexis Nikole Nelson. It blew my mind, and ever since I heard it, I’ve been struck by the wonderful range of edible plants in my neighborhood. As I was walking around taking these photos in neighbors’ yards, it struck me that I was, in a sense, foraging for photos the same way some people forage for food. Do with that what you will, and enjoy these spring photos!
