Back in August, which seems like a lifetime ago, the lovely Emily and I hosted a retreat at Red Clover Ranch in the Driftless Region of Wisconsin. Over the course of the weekend, ten of us talked about color, light, cakes, jams, and celebrating a seasonal bounty. It was pure magic.
The ranch that hosted us is located in a special part of the state of Wisconsin, left hilly and unrazed by the glaciers that covered and flattened the rest of the Midwest. Nestled in a valley, Red Clover Ranch also has the unique benefit of never having been farmed. An apple orchard sits on the hill across from the cabin. The sun sets magnificently over the willow trees and eponymous red clovers. There is something special and magical there—you can read more about it in Emily’s deliciously beautiful post from last summer.
We’re already scheming to host another retreat there next summer, so rest assured, this isn’t the last you’ll hear of Red Clover Ranch on this newsletter. But the weekend was too magical to let go without sharing a few snapshots and, of course, a recipe for jam that Emily demonstrated during the course of the weekend. Enjoy all of this—and reply to this email to let me know if you want to come next summer!
