Welcome to the Friday UnRecipe post for paid subscribers, a photo essay on farmers markets (again!). On Tuesday, all subscribers will receive the first in a series of photo essays about inspiration and the stories behind the photos I take. As always, I’m so thrilled and appreciative that you’re here. You can learn more about my work here.
I think we all know by now that I have a thing for the farmers’ market. I love shopping with absolutely no purpose, browsing through the stalls and making conversation with the growers. Sometimes, I take their advice. Often, I ignore it and buy what I think is prettiest. I’m not proud of that.
I can’t help it though—I get giddy just looking at the piles of produce, stacked in what feels like lavish piles of little luxuries. In the winter, I’ll pine for these moments of abundance and the way I freeze up when I have to pick just one tomato. For now, all I can do is wander around, take pictures of it all, and choose the prettiest fruits to bring home with me.
A sincere thanks (as always) to the growers and market employees for being totally cool with me snapping pictures of fruits and veg. You all are the real MVPs!
